Existing Digital Student Portfolio Tools

MyEdu and Degreed are existing student portfolio tools that we have explored.

MyEdu was was recently acquired by Blackboard. TechCrunch describes MyEdu as a kind of "student-centric LinkedIn."

MyEdu has 1,000,000+ students, 800+ schools (including NIC, CSI, etc.) and a bevy of companies posting jobs. They support certificate, associates, and bachelors pathways.

We recently tried out MyEdu by creating a profile as a student at North Idaho College pursuing a Certificate in Aerospace Engineering with expected graduation date in 2015. The student’s hometown is Clark Fork, Idaho, but she'd prefer to work in Coeur d'Alene, Boise, or Twin Falls upon graduation.

MyEdu instantaneously populated her schedule with NIC academic calendar dates, connected her with other NIC students, and offered her 84 jobs and internships based on her major and my school. The jobs were mostly at Cessna and Polaris. 24 of the jobs were in Seattle, 5 were in Denver, and 24 were in Minneapolis. There were many others scattered across the country.
