Milestone Moment: First PTECH Students Graduate College
This month marked a major milestone for six PTECH students. These students were the first to join PTECH back in 2014 and are now the first to complete their post-secondary programs. On May 12, Hayla Evans, Isaac Poorman, Brandon Michelson, Brandon Lucas, Jimmy Soderberg and Angus Meredith participated in NIC's Commencement Ceremony. This marked a HUGE milestone for the PTECH program and for these young adults who will be entering the workforce and are officially #JobReady!
I was honored to witness these students walk across the stage and receive their hard-earned diplomas and certificates from North Idaho College. All of them started their PTECH journey by taking dual credit courses while in high school, then moved onto NIC and completed their programs.
We are so proud of this group for choosing a career, sticking to their plan, and completing their training. I know that each step is difficult, simply making a choice about a future career at 16 or 17 years old can be daunting especially in today's world. Sticking to a plan is also difficult. We all know that life happens and sometimes there are bumps in the road, but each of these students stuck it out through the tough times and honored the choices they made to get the education and training they would need to land a good-paying job.
As these six young people venture out and start to experience post-graduation life and everything that entails, we hope that the skills and lessons they have learned with PTECH continue to be of use throughout their lives. I know I speak for the entire PTECH team when I say we are incredibly proud to have been a part of each one of these students' journeys and we know that their futures will be bright. Thank you for being shining examples that it CAN be done: Choose a Path. Stay on a Path. Get a Job.
